There are a lot of questions that can be asked when you are deciding to get a new tattoo - especially if it is your first. With that in mind I have done my best to compile a list of useful information about how best to go about booking a tattoo with me, and also what to expect during the process of getting your tattoo completed. If you have any additional questions feel free to reach out and ask.
What is the first step in the process to be tattooed?
We always begin with a consultation. I dedicate Tuesdays as a consultation day in the shop, so I am available from 1-8pm to sit down, chat about ideas, and book appointments. Tuesdays are fairly casual - I accept consults on a walk in basis, or by appointment.
How old do you have to be to get tattooed?
18, no exceptions.
How much will my tattoo cost?
I do not quote tattoo prices over the phone or internet, I only quote tattoos in person to avoid any confusion. I charge an hourly rate of $160/hr.
How much does a consultation cost?
Consultations are always free. I do take a cash deposit at the consultation to book appointments, if you do not have a cash deposit (minimum $100) we will not be booking tattoo appointments.
How does the deposit work?
A deposit is mandatory to be tattooed, and is held until the tattoo process is completed. This includes healing the final session, and returning to the shop to have your tattoo photographed for my portfolio!
It is also very important to note that the deposit is nontransferable and nonrefundable. If you miss your appointment or fail to inform me 24hrs prior to our appointment time that you cannot make it, shop policy dictates that I will keep your deposit and you will have to put a new one down to resume booking appointments.
What if I know I want to get tattooed, but I don't know what I want to get?
It is important for you to decide what you want to have tattooed. If you're between a couple of ideas we can chat about them and decide which is the best route for us to proceed, however, if you have no idea what you want I suggest taking a bit more time to think about it. I do have predrawn tattoos (also known as flash) available if you are feeling adventurous!
What do you like to tattoo?
I love all things nerdy, 90s video games, movies, TV, animals, Japan, flora and fauna, and decorative designs to name a few...
Can you draw me more than one design for me to choose from?
The short answer is no. I pour my heart, experience, and above all time into every drawing I do to create something special for each client - this involves a lot of trust.. and while minor adjustments are understandable, an entire redraw will require in a new deposit.
When can I see my drawing?
I complete my tattoo drawings the week of the initial appointment, while most people see their tattoo design the day of the appointment, I can be available to view your design the Tuesday preceding your appointment.
Can I take a photo of the drawing?
while I understand wanting a second opinion, getting a tattoo is in the end your choice alone so it cannot justify a client taking a photo - the artwork belongs to me, and thus is not available to be photographed, especially before the execution of the tattoo.
What is your cancellation policy?
I require a minimum 24 hrs notice via TELEPHONE to cancel or change your tattoo appointment - I do not accept cancellations via email, DM, carrier pidgeon, or through any form of grape vine... its very inconvient to me and my schedule if not properly informed, you will automatically lose your deposit if you no show/no call, and will be required to drop off a new (and usually larger) deposit in person. Be aware that your promptness also effects how quickly I can rebook your appointment.
Can I bring friends with me?
Depending on how busy the shop is, you may have one friend with you while you are being tattooed - please be aware that our shop is 18+ and I will not allow minors to accompany you.
What should I do to prepare for my tattoo appointment?
Please arrive for your appointment on time, clean, sober, hydrated, fed, and well rested. Wear comfortable clothing that allows access to the area we will be tattooing, and consider ease of redress once you are bandaged at the completion of your session - think zip up hoodie and stretchy pants. Also be aware that tattoo ink will stain clothing so don't wear your favourite white silk top. Feel free to bring a beverage with a sealing lid, a small snack, and any entertainment you mind require such as a portable device with netflix or some tunes to distract you - dont forget headphones!
And above all don't forget - CASH ONLY!
